BIOGRAPHY OF GABRIELA ROSA

Gabriela Rosa was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on October 12, 1966.  In 1983, at the age of 16, she completed High School, majoring in Science & Math.  That same year, she started  working towards her Bachelor of Arts degree in  Marketing at the Universidad Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU).  She completed her studies in 1986.  Later, she studied  English Grammar & Literacy at the Dominican American Institute, and became an Advanced English Teacher at the same Institute.  She later also completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics at Instituto Tecnólogico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).

In  1994 Garbriela decided to explore new horizons and traveled to the United States, landing in New York City.  During her initial years, she  worked in the retail industry.  In 1998, she started working at the Trade Office of the Dominican Consulate in New York, working as a facilitator and liaison between businessmen in the city of New York and the Dominican Republic.  She also organized  Trade Fairs in both cities, with the sponsorship of the Department of Trade of the Dominican Republic, now known as Centro de Exportación e Inversión (CEI).

In  2000, Gabriela started her public service career by becoming  a  Legislative Assistant to the Honorable State Assemblyman, Herman D. Farrell, Jr.,. In that capacity, she assisted the constituency in the areas of Harlem, Washington Heights & Inwood.  Her work here then  led her in 2002, to accept the position of Chief of Staff for the newly elected  City Council Member, Miguel Martinez.  After almost three years of service, in 2004, Gabriela came back to work at the office of Assemblyman Farrell, this time as his Senior Policy Adviser and Special Assistant.

Gabriela also volunteers her time and serves as Treasurer for the Harlem political club, Tioga Carver, in which Assemblyman Farrell and Caroline Rowan are the District Leaders.
Gabriela stays active, to an extent,  in the politics of the Dominican Republic.  She is also very active in many different activities in the community.

In 2005, Gabriela became a United States Citizen, which served as the the foundation for her aspirations in taking a  more pro-active role in local politics in the New York City, specifically, Harlem and Washington Heights.

Gabriela is married and the proud mother of a very handsome 11 years old son.  She still resides in Washington Heights.

BIOGRAFIA DE GABRIELA ROSA

Gabriela Rosa nació en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana el 12 de octubre, 1966.  En el  1983, a la edad de 16 años de edad, se graduó de Bachiller en Ciencias y Matemáticas.  En el mismo año inició una Licenciatura en Mercadeo en la Universidad Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU), completándola en 1986; además, cursó estudios en Ciencias Gramaticales del idioma ingles en el Instituto Dominico-Americano, en el cual fué profesora de Inglés Avanzado.  En el año 1990 se graduó de Licenciada en Economía en el Instituto Tecnólogico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).

Para el 1994, y a la edad de 27 años,  decide explorar nuevos horizontes y viaja a la ciudad de Nueva York.  Durante sus primeros años en esta gran ciudad, trabajó en diferentes areas, tales como Tiendas por Departamentos, entre otras.  En el año de 1998, empezó a trabajar en la Oficina de Comercio del Consulado Dominicano en Nueva York, haciendo las veces de facilitadora y enlace entre comerciantes residentes en Nueva York y la República Dominicana, además de preparar la organización de diferentes Ferias Comerciales entre ambos paises (Estados Unidos y República Dominicana), con la colaboración del Centro de Exportaciones de la República Dominicana, ahora bajo las siglas CEI.

En el año  2000, empieza a laborar como Asistente Legislativa en la oficina del Asambleista Estatal Herman D. Farrell, Jr., en donde inicia su carrera de Servicio Público en la ciudad de Nueva York.  Asistiendo a las comunidades de Harlem, Washington Heights & Inwood, le proporcionó la experiencia suficiente para aceptar la posición de Jefa de la Oficina del entonces recién electo Concejal Miguel Martinez, en el año 2002.  Después de casi tres años en esa posición, para finales del 2004, regresa de nuevo a la oficina del Asambleista Estatal Farrell, nombrada como su Asesora y Asistente Especial.

En la actualidad, además de sus funciones en la Oficina del Distrito, y en su tiempo libre, es tambien la Tesorera del club politico, Tioga Carver, del cual tanto el Asambleista Estatal Farrell y Caroline Rowan son los Líderes Distritales.

Mantiene una participación constante en las actividades políticas de la República Dominicana, dentro y fuera de la ciudad de Nueva York, incluyendo actividades comunitarias.

En el 2005, se naturaliza como ciudadana de los Estados Unidos, lo que le proporciona la oportunidad de participar de manera proactiva en el proceso politico de este pais.

Está casada y es la orgullosa madre de un joven, muy apuesto,  de  11 años.  Siempre ha residido en el Alto Manhattan.
